New DataMotion Direct Release Promotes Interoperability, Eases Transition to Value-based Reimbursement

The latest release of the DataMotion Direct Secure Messaging Service features enhanced capabilities that ease the path to maximizing reimbursement from CMS’s Promoting Interoperability Programs and performance-based payment initiatives

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – May 30, 2018  DataMotion, an accredited health information service provider (HISP), certificate authority (CA) and registration authority (RA), has released its latest enhancements to its Direct Secure Messaging service.  The new capabilities yield immediate benefits for developers seeking to embed Direct Secure Messaging in workflows that extend Direct Messaging integration proven success in care transition and referrals to advanced workflows enabling care coordination and patient engagement.  The latest release carries all accreditations and certifications required for eligible providers and hospitals to attest for CMS’s Promoting Interoperability Programs (formerly EHR Incentive/Meaningful Use Program), Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), and Alternative Payment Models (APMs).

Direct Messaging Integration

REST APIs featured in the new release expand the integration options for DataMotion™ Direct and complement existing SOAP APIs. REST APIs simplify and speed implementation for developers of mHealth apps and portals. All messaging features – including send/receive, mailbox control with delegated access, folder control, and account access – are possible via the new REST API.

New DataMotion Direct management features bring improvements and flexibility to service provisioning, trusted agent assignment and new subscriber onboarding.  As Direct Messaging integration attracts new subscribers (DirectTrust estimates over 1.5 million addresses provisioned nationally), the new features will yield productivity gains for administrators and an improved onboarding experience for subscribers.  The new management features fully support DirectTrust’s rigorous identity proofing and enrollment guidelines in a simplified workflow that is easy to integrate into a wide variety of production environments and use cases.

Other improvements include updates to the Health Provider Directory, which lists over 700,000 provider and organizational Direct addresses, and interfaces with the National Provider Identifier (NPI) Registry for real-time search and directory updates.

Demand from providers and health systems for Direct Messaging integration also remains strong and DataMotion continues to be uniquely positioned to embed the service into the next generation of workflows and patient-centered apps. Use cases and guidance on utilization is detailed in our recently published whitepaper titled 21st Century Data Sharing Techniques for Healthcare Delivery Transformation Success.

The new capabilities available in the service are detailed in the DataMotion Direct 6.3 Release Notes, posted on the organization’s knowledge base website. More information on DataMotion Direct Messaging integration is available at
